William P. Baldwin is a lifelong resident of the Carolina Low Country and an award-winning novelist, poet, biographer, and historian. A Clemson graduate with degrees in History and English, he’s worked as a shrimp boat captain and builder, but writing has been his true calling.

His acclaimed works include Mrs. Whaley and Her Charleston Garden, Heaven is a Beautiful Place (Silver Remy winner), and The Hard to Catch (Lillian Smith Award). His biography Journey of a Hope Merchant won the National Outdoor Book Award. Charles Town was praised by Charleston Magazine as “a tour de force.”

Baldwin has also collaborated on several photography and oral history books, winning multiple Benjamin Franklin Awards for poetry. His work has appeared in Garden and Gun, Southern Living, Charleston, and more.
